Paneer Power + Paneer Recipe

I don’t get it. Why Paneer aka Indian Cottage Cheese is looked upon as a non-healthy food object. This Blog Post of mine intends to bust all those myths related to this superfood. Plus, a fabulous Paneer Recipe for you guys! So, shall we get started?

100 gms of Paneer made of cow milk provides:

💡18.3 gms of Protein
💡20.8 gms of Fat
💡2.6 gms of Minerals
💡1.2 gms of Carbohydrates
💡265 kcal of Energy
💡208 mgs of Calcium
💡138 mgs of Phosphorus

And so, Paneer/ Indian Cottage Cheese is often substituted for meat in many Vegetarian dishes of Indian cuisine; both dry & curried recipes! And yet its a healthier and more ethical option than meat, to be quite honest! Hence, including Paneer in your diet often is a smart choice. But as I personally believe everything in moderation is beneficial; don’t go overboard with its consumption. However, even the hypertension and diabetes patients can have it in small quantities once or twice a week. 

After knowing such goodies of Paneer let’s cook one of the popular North Indian recipe of Paneer- ‘Paneer Bhurji’ which basically means ‘Scrambled Cottage Cheese’. But as usual, I have given my magic touch by making it more healthier! Keen on recipe? Go on reading..

For Scrambled Cottage Cheese you need:
🌶 100 to 150 gms of crumbled Panner/ Indian Cottage Cheese
🌶 1 finely chopped Onion, Tomato, Capsicum , Ginger, Green Chilly and for the healthier touch add your choice of Vegetables. I have used Boiled Beans, carrots, corns, and peas here.
🌶 Dry Masalas- salt to taste, turmeric powder, red chilly powder, dry coriander powder, garam masala
🌶 Fresh coriander for garnish
🌶 For tampering – cooking oil, cumin seeds, asafoetida

Process:
👩‍🍳 Heat up some cooking oil into a pan. Add in half a tbsp of cumin seeds, and a pinch of asafoetida.


👩‍🍳 Add in the finely chopped onions


👩‍🍳 Add half tbsp of the chopped ginger and sauté both until the onions turn translucent
👩‍🍳 Next add in chopped Green chilly and Capcicum and cook it for a minute or two.  


👩‍🍳 Add in all the Masalas cook it for couple of minutes 

👩‍🍳 Next throw in all your favourite boiled vegetables and cook them for a minute or two

👩‍🍳 Now add in the chopped tomatoes 


👩‍🍳 Lastly add in the Crumbled Paneer and cook it for a minute


👩‍🍳 Garnish with the fresh coriander/ parsley

And your superfood recipe is ready! You can place the Paneer Bhurji in between your breads and have it as your brunch!
Or enjoy it with Paratha/ Roti alone. Or you can even create a wholesome meal by adding in some salad and buttermilk/lassi, just like I did.
